"You, Me, and the Moon"

acrylic on canvas

48"x60"
While I was working in a pre-school classroom for Head Start as an art-program consultant, a little 4-year old girl named Carly (who I had never spoken to) came up to me and handed me a little envelope. She said it was for me. I opened it up and found a piece of folded paper with this image drawn on it in pencil (minus the text). I asked her what it was, and she pointed to the drawing and said "That's you, that's me, and that's the moon!" I painted this to remind myself of the power of visual imagery to express true feelings. and

the importance of cultivating that ability in children.

So I can't take full credit for this painting...it's a collaboration with Carly.

"Robby Lives"

This is a shrine painting to honor my best friend who passed away last year. It is painted on an antique door. Robby was an amazing heavy metal guitarist...the guitar in the painting is his signature guitar that he played...a purple Paul Reed Smith. If you look closely, you can see a reflection of Robby's face starting to form on the guitar. There is still much detail to add to the wings, roses, and guitar. When the painting is done, there will be a shelf attached at the bottom to put candles, roses, guitar picks, and the Jaeger bottle that I drank while working on it.

UNDERSEA MURAL
10'x15'
Medina, Ohio
this mural contains 34 different forms of undersea life.
the sand is painted with Fleckstone, to give it a realistic feel.
I worked on this mural every Saturday and Sunday for two months.
The owners decked out the bathroom in a nautical theme to match it.
